Write a comparison poem. That was our instruction this morning for PAD Day 13. When we have no restrictions on interpretation or direction, possibilities seem endless. I hope you enjoy the direction I used for this one.
Along the Road
Gravel slips beneath tired feet,
keeping a straight line between greenery,
deviating little from this chosen path
along hedgerows of althea and forsythia;
each blooming in its season as thoughts
tumble like cool brook waters beyond
sight within life’s disjointed segments.
Many are the diversions tempting
one to take detours along the road;
detours that lead to hesitations,
detours that beckon the curious;
yet each gives only momentary
respite from the walk along the road.
